Large size distribution

A completely different approach might be the use of radio frequency plasma instead of a DC plasma. The ignition and sustainment of the plasma is decoupled from the application of voltages to the electrodes that are now used only for electrochemical reactions. Another method which has been proven to be quite successful is the application of an U-shaped tube in order to avoid an IR-drop over the ionic liquid (see Figure 10.2). Unfortunately, this set-up led to a large size distribution of the obtained particles but it showed that RF plasma could further improve the stability of the ionic liquids during the metal deposition process. [Pg.274]

A variety of techniques are available for the characterisation of particle size distributions but, because of the large size distribution of solids in water and wastewater, no single analytical method can be used. Besides their physico-chemical properties (stability, settleability, etc.), heterogeneous fractions have interesting optical properties. This is the reason why optical methods take an important place among granulometric methods (Table 5). [Pg.150]

For GO and its derivatives, because of their inherent surface oxygen-containing functional groups, they exhibit much better biocompatibility than CNTs. However, most GO used in the biomedical research is relatively large, in the region of a couple of hundred nanometers, or even micrometer size. In addition, the large size distribution that originates from the preparation... [Pg.102]

Size distribution > design supersaturation too close to metastable limit. Filtration rate slow crystals too small/large size distribution/fault with filtration, see Sections 5.13 and 5.14. [Pg.106]

The solution was analyzed by transmission electron microscopy, and the results are shown in Fig. 13.12. It was fotmd in this case that the synthesis has led to obtain a solution having a large size distribution with dimensions ranging between 2 nm and 20 nm. The particles have not yet submitted various morphologies particles were found from so close to spherical and even cubic tetrahedral triangular with maximum size limited to less than 20 nm, due to the action of the stabilizing polymer. [Pg.297]

H2S, Na2S, thiourea and thioacetamide are normally used as the S source [34-36, 52]. The major disadvantages of the method include poor crystallinity of as synthesized nanoparticles, large size distribution and invariably associated surface defects [61-67]. [Pg.190]

The normal distribution function is rarely used to describe aerosol particle size distributions because most aerosols exhibit a skewed (long tail at large sizes) distribution function. The normal distribution is, of course, synunetrical. It can be applied to monodisperse test aerosols, to certain pollens and spores, and to specially prepared polystyrene latex spheres. The number frequency function is given by... [Pg.47]
