Octacoordination is now recognized to be common for many lanthanide and actinide complexes. Among the < -transition metal ions, however octacoordination is less frequent. The d, d, d and d configurations are known to produce eight coordinated complexes (97). In an excellent review Lvppard (92) surveyed the chemistry of the octa coordinated complexes, especially stereochemical and bonding aspects, and included most of the published material upto 1967. [Pg.95]

Lanthanide and actinide complexes. Ln(L-L)) and An(L-L)4, of sterically hindered diketonates [e.g.. [Me3CC(0)CHC(0)CMej] fdpm) and [F CCF2CF2-CfOICHQOJCMeJ (fed)], are of considerable interest because of their volatility. Despite their high molecular weights, they have measurable vapor pressures at temperatures below the boiling point of water. This volatility has been exploited in... [Pg.318]

Bagnall and Xing-fu205,206 in their study of lanthanide and actinide complexes developed a more sophisticated approach to the analysis of the steric demands of ligands. The emphasis of their work, in contrast to that previously discussed, was on ligands other than phosphines. [Pg.1019]

TRES appears to be a sensitive tool to follow lanthanide and actinide complexation in solution, because most of the spectroscopic parameters are influenced by complexation. It has been shown that caution should be paid to the type of photochemical processes occurring in solution in order to correctly analyse the data. Taking account this important point, TRES is an interesting technique for the determination of equilibrium constants. From a more fundamental viewpoint, one may wonder why inorganic ligands lead to regime A with U(VI) and to regime C with Cm(III). [Pg.506]

It is important to note that efforts to synthesize metal alkoxides and aryloxides (particularly lanthanide and actinide complexes) have sometimes produced unexpected products, incorporating halide or oxide ligands, for example. As a result, some early literature may contain incorrect formulations. ... [Pg.5063]
