Laboratory safety Technology

In contrast, ACR emphasizes the quality control, calibration of the equipment, and technology used in the procedures, and accordingly has developed three modules - module 1 for oncology, module 2 for brain, and module 3 for heart. A PET center must apply for all modules that are performed at the facility. For accreditation, the facility is required to submit information on the quality control and quality assurance program, data collection, reporting, radiopharmaceuticals procedures, and laboratory safety, along with chnical and approved phantom images. So, all equipment in a PET center is required to be calibrated and tested for accurate functionahty for accreditation by ACR. [Pg.161]

The oldest and simplest method of storing hydrogen is the compression of the gas. There exists a wide variety of pressure vessels of different sizes and pressure levels, from the small spray can for laboratory use to large stationary tanks with a geometrical volume of 100 m or more. Accordingly, the safety technology is common knowledge. [Pg.48]

It should be obvious from a scientific standpoint that the question of microwave effects needs to be addressed in a serious manner, given the rapid increase in the use of microwave technology in chemical sciences, in particular organic synthesis. There is an urgent need to remove the black box stigma of microwave chemistry and to provide a scientific rationalization for the observed effects. This is even more important if one considers safety aspects once this technology moves from small-scale laboratory work to pilot- or production-scale instrumentation. [Pg.16]

This work was carried out at the Helsinki University of Technology in the Laboratory of Chemical Engineering and Plant Design from April 1993 to July 1998. The thesis discusses inherent safety in the conceptual process design. [Pg.7]

Toys sold in the USA are regulated by the Consumer Products Safety Commission, and the Code of Federal Regulations covers the toy safety standards. In addition, there are a voluntary set of standards established by the American Society for Testing Materials. This article visits a laboratory that helps test new toys, Specialized Technology Resources Inc., and discovers what some of the tests involve. [Pg.69]
