Knowledge Database

A very useful tool is the Emrys Knowledge Database, representing a collection of detailed protocols for reactions performed with Biotage (Personal Chemistry) instmments. To date, this web-based tool contains around 4000 entries. 

The above mentioned Knowledge Database has been adapted for use with the Initiator System as the technical features of the new instruments are very similar to those of the Emrys series. 

We start with a definition of the problem and based on this, we identify the candidates (such as, molecules, mixtures and formulations) through expert knowledge, database search, model-based search, or a combination of all. The next step is to perform experiments and/or model-based simulations (of product behavior) to identify a feasible set of candidates. At this stage, issues related to process design are introduced and a process-product match is obtained. The final test is related to product quality and performance verification. Other features, such as life cycle assessment could also be introduced at this stage.

The fnzzy model is realized as the module of a logic conclusion in an expert system. The typical strnctnre of an expert system includes the database, mechanisms of logic outputs, knowledge base - user interface, mechanism of expert estimates, knowledge database support and explanation mechanism for management and policy makers.
