Kneading cylinder

JSW Special Kneading Cylinder NIC [11] NIC has been developed to increase significantly the compounding quality level as, recently, traditional compounding processes have been subject to simplification for the purpose of resource conservation or manufacturing cost reduction. [Pg.223]

Kneading is performed in the clearance between cylinder inside and the top of screw, in what is called tip clearance. Compounding quality level can be increased by improving the structure of tip clearance. JSW has developed the special kneading cylinder NIC with a unique channel structure on the cylinder inside (Figure 5.26). [Pg.223]

Initially, when the mixer (4) is started water may be fed to its cylinder by a proportioning pump, which is done to increase flow of the material. Water is supplied through a hole in a kneading tooth of the screw. The quantity of water is decreased as the equipment picks up steady-state operating conditions. The water contained in the mixer is then evaporated and may be removed from the connecting shaft by means of a vacuum pump. [Pg.169]

The energy input via the screw elements and kneading discs results in splaying forces, particularly in the plastification zone, which can cause wear to the cylinders (see Fig. 4.10). This can be reduced by an appropriate design of the plastification zone and by heating the cylinder wall, which results in the formation of a melt film [8]. [Pg.65]

To create the goo students will observe in this lesson, you need to add water to the cornstarch. To determine the right amount of water, first add 28 ml of water from the plastic graduated cylinder to one bag of cornstarch. Seal the bag and gently knead it. The goo should appear liquid but feel solid. If the mixture does not have the right consistency, try again with a... [Pg.19]

Rrst, using an electric grinder or sandpaper, grind the edges of the section holders back in a slope 1/4 inch from the ends. Knead 5 inches of the ribbon epoxy and roll it into a cylinder. Cut it into four equal pieces. [Pg.89]

We now consider the extrusion-spheronization process, which is a widely used method of obtaining multiparticulate dosage forms. The drug substance is mixed with a diluent, a binder (and possibly with other excipients), and water, and kneaded to obtain a wet plastic mass. This is then extruded through small holes to give a mass of narrow pasta-like cylinders. These are then spheronized by rapid... [Pg.14]

For over 40 years twin-screw extruders have been utilized in polymer compounding and various kinds of extruder screw design have been developed to suit the demands of each field. However, there is hardly any case of cylinder development to improve kneading performance. [Pg.223]
