Kingdom of Heaven

British Foreign Minister Ernest Bevin once said that "The Kingdom of Heaven runs on righteousness, but the Kingdom of Earth tuns on alkanes." Well, actually he said "tuns on oil" not "runs on alkanes," but they re essentially the same. By far, the major sources of alkanes are the world s natural gas and petroleum deposits. Laid down eons ago, these deposits are thought to be derived from the decomposition of plant and animal matter, primarily of marine origin. Natural gas consists chiefly of methane but also contains ethane, propane, and butane. Petroleum is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons that must be separated into fractions and then further refined before it can be used. [Pg.99]

When one explores this inner space, the depths of consciousness (Jesus called it "the Kingdom of Heaven which is within you"), he finds experiences that have no counterpart in ordinary life, and so is at a loss as to how he can explain it to one who has not explored. All that he can say is, You must experience it for yourself before you will really understand. [Pg.174]

However, it is necessary in this age for the citizens of the kingdom of heaven, surrounded as they are by the lost and the impious, to be vexed by... [Pg.216]

Lord of heaven and earth, remember me, Thy sinful servant, cold of heart and impure, in Thy kingdom. Amen. [Pg.369]

Nature is fill of secret bounty. Common dew is the distilled essence of Heaven and Earth, a condensation of the Universal Spirit the Secret Fire, The best way to collect it is to use purified plant salts, which are highly hygroscopic and absorb dew from the air. Plant Salt is understood alchemically as a transitional substance, since it bridges two kingdoms, in this case vegetable and mineral. [Pg.22]

This divine Prime-Light descends out of the regions of the Ultra-Heavenly into the Heaven, that means into the Kingdom of the Constellations, where it turns into the Light of Nature (Astral-Light), into the World-Soul. [Pg.18]

In all three Kingdoms, no creature can be without this Sulphur he is not the Life-Balsam, but virtually the glue with which the body is being kept together, and also the magnet which attracts the heavenly Sulphur or the Life-Balsam for the maintenance of the Creatures."... [Pg.14]

As we saw in the last chapter, the Egyptians knew the true secret of the Philosophers Stone at the time of Imhotep, if not earlier. The annual rituals of Unas described in Chapter 16 used the Philosophers Stone to refresh the spirit of the Pharaoh and thereby to refresh the order and fertility of the land. The Egyptian king-making ceremonies were rites that introduced the Philosophers Stone to the new Pharaoh. They described how the Old Kingdom Pharaohs never died, but ascended a stairway to heaven. Strangely, true to the tradition, the bodies of the oldest Pharaohs and their high priests remain undiscovered. [Pg.336]

The texts of the Old Kingdom gave the Philosophers Stone many names. It was called the golden tear from the eye of Horus, that which issues from the mouth of the Creator (the Christian Word), and the spittle or the semen of the Father in Heaven. With the rise of the Heliopolian Amun, it later became the hidden Light, the unknowable name of the God whose title was Amun and whose symbol was the ram. [Pg.336]

The blessed in the heavenly kingdom will see the torment of the damned so that they may even more thoroughly enjoy their blessedness. Thomas Aquinas, Summa Theologiae Supplement to the Third Part, question XCVIl, article i, conclusio . Some modern editions do not contain this conclusio. ... [Pg.70]
