Junction resistance, reduction

Ducts are used to transport the exhaust air and its contaminants to the collection area. An important feature of duct design is reduction of resistance to air flow from friction within the wall, aggravated by unnecessary curves and bends (particularly right-angled bends), as well as junctions with other ducts at sharp angles, collections of dust, and changes in duct diameter. [Pg.135]

In contrast to the known resistance of A8-steroids towards catalytic hydrogenation, 7-oxo A8-steroids (e.g., 21, 23, 25) undergo rapid reduction to directly afford the product with the natural 8/ .9a-configuration. This direct formation of a turns junction is best rationalized by assuming a 1,4-addition of hydrogen in the reduction step45,46. [Pg.971]
