Cohn, Jonathan. Guns n Moses. The New Republic, vol. 218, June 22, 1998, p. 42. Reports on the efforts of Aaron Zelman, founder of Jews for the Preservation of Eirearms Ownership. Although the majority of Jews tend to support gun control and other liberal positions, Zelman calls upon Jewish people to reject gun control as an invitation to genocide. He finds the right and duty of self-defense to be at the core of the Jewish tradition.

Describes Nazi gun control legislation and asserts that it became the model for U.S. gun control efforts starting in the 1960s. The authors generally view gun control as a key element in the totalitarian project.

Argues that gun control has been a key step in the process of mass murder conducted by the Nazis, Soviets, and other dictatorships of the 20th century. The authors claim that the drafters of U.S. gun laws adopted much of their language from Nazi gun laws.
