Of much interest is the attempt by Izmailov and Todes [20] to construct a theory of detonation. This work is not published anywhere and is known to the author from their report at the Scientific Council of the Institute of Chemical Physics in 1934. [Pg.422]

Izmailov and Todes give this equation a new interpretation, pointing out that in a regime of steady propagation with a single particular velocity, no matter how the chemical reaction proceeds, the specific volume and pressure must be linearly related according to formula (4a). [Pg.422]

The motion in the p,v plane over the course of the chemical reaction should occur along the line ABC (see Fig. 1) which passes through the initial point A. This line, which Izmailov and Todes call the isovel line (i.e., corresponding to constant velocity), we shall call the Todes line. [Pg.422]

Izmailov and Todes assumed that the point ascends directly from the initial state A, which obviously lies on the dynamic adiabate for the fresh chemically-unchanged gas, to the point B, located on the Hugoniot adiabate... [Pg.422]

Leaving aside the physical conceptions of Izmailov and Todes concerning the path of motion of the system and the beginning of the reaction at the initial temperature, we fully utilize below the graphic and elegant concept of the Todes line (isovel). [Pg.423]

A or extremely close to it. In this case, which corresponds to the original ideas of Todes and Izmailov on the motion along the segment AB, motion at another velocity is equally possible, for example, directly along the segment AG with realization of the point G on the lower branch despite the lower entropy. This last remark may be important for the theory of detonation of porous condensed explosives. [Pg.429]

The course of change of the specific volume and pressure of the material in a detonation wave corresponding to these conceptions are studied exclusion of the states indicated above ( 1) and selection of a specific value of the velocity are consequences of the mechanism of the beginning of the chemical reaction described in 2 and of the equations of conservation which lead (Todes, Izmailov) to a linear relation between the pressure and volume in the absence of losses. [Pg.445]

According to Bronsted (1928), hydrocarbons cannot participate in protolytic reactions. The incorrectness of this conclusion (which we have already indicated above) and the many departures from the quantitative theory of Bronsted (Izmailov, 1959) show that the theory is inadequate for the description of protolytic reactions. [Pg.174]
