This base was reported by Pschorr [2] as a by-product in the preparation of the /3-isomer, and was stated to give, on degradation, a methine base that could not be isomerized, and was thus believed to have the —SEt group at C-8 and to be a stereoisomer of S-ethylthioco-dide.
