The C(l ) radical assumes a close to planar conformation. Upon subsequent reduction the a- and p-isomers are likely to be formed in approximately equal yields [reactions (248) and (249)]. 

In the case of dGuo an isomerization at C(4 ) has also been observed. In a preliminary communication this product had been assigned to the P-anomer
