IRAK interleukin receptor-associated

This receptor family mediates the effects of interleukin 1, a major proinflammatory cytokine, and interleukin 18, and includes TLR receptors of macrophages like TLR2 which recognize peptigoglycans of gram-positive bacteria. These receptors are coupled to the cytosohc serine/threonine kinase IRAK (interleukin receptor-associated kinase). Following signals include the activation of transcription factors like NFk,B, or others via MAP kinases. [Pg.98]
