Iodosobenzene tetrafluoroborate

Iodosobenzene tetrafluoroborate, (C6HJ)20 2BF4 (1). This yellow salt, m.p. 160° dec., is obtained by reaction of C6H5I(OAc)2 with HBF4 (75% yield.)... 

This ligand coupling method was quite efficient for acetophenone and rerf-butylketone derivatives. However, coupling of the TMS ether of cyclohexanone (121) failed. The oxidative coupling of the TMS ether of cyclohexanone (121) to give 2,2 -bicyclohexanone was successful only when this silyl enol ether was treated with the iodosobenzene-tetrafluoroborate complex.230,231... 

Interaction of sila-alkynes with excess iodosobenzene 4 in the presence of excess triethylox-onium tetrafluoroborate in dichloromethane at room temperature leads [27] to the formation of alkynyliodonium tetrafluoroboiates 12 [Eq. (4)]. A variation of this procedure employs Et20 BF3 followed by treatment with aqueous NaBp4 [Eq. (5)] [27, 28]. To date only alkyl-and aryl-substituted homologs, along with the silyl ethynyliodonium tetrafluoroborates, 12, have been reported via these procedures. 

Likewise, interaction of commercially available iodosobenzene (13) with silylacetylenes (14) results in alkynyl(phenyl)iodonium tetrafluoroborates (15) in 50-85% isolated yields (equation 4). ...
