Intrachain energy migration

Collini E, Scholes RD (2009) Coherent intrachain energy migration in a conjugated polymer at room temperature. Science 323 369... [Pg.57]

In subsection (B) we will discuss the results with the anthracene energy trap more extensively, from the point of view of intrachain energy migration. This system is more difficult to analyze with simple models because of the large Forster radius for naphthalene to anthracene single-step energy transfer (25A ) ... [Pg.405]

Basically, the slow intrachain energy migration was found to be dominating in the solution, on a timescale of 500 ps. However, the energy migration rate in a film turned out to be on a few tens of picoseconds scale, with one order of magnitude increase with respect to that in the solution. The high efficiency in films was attributed to the... [Pg.32]

Amplification of C emission upon excitation of CPE, relative to that upon direct excitation of C is an important advantage of CPE-based FRET sensors, which benefits from the rapid intrachain and interchain energy migration from CPE to C via FRET. The detection sensitivity of CCP-based DNA sensor thus is enhanced to an extent dependent on the signal amplification of C emission. Amplification factor is defined as the intensity ratio of the saturated CCP-sensitized C emission to the intrinsic C emission in the absence of CCP. To acquire large signal amplification, it is necessary to review the factors affecting the FRET process from CCP to C. Equation (1) describes the calculation of FRET rate (KVRi T) [67] ... [Pg.428]

Our interest in polymer photodegradation has led us to an investigation of the competition for migrating energy by chain impurities and "defects" such as excimer-forming sites. To isolate the intrachain phenomena, photooxidation of polymer solutions in dimethoxymethane have been carried out. As an example of a very photostable excimer-forming polymer, PS has been selected. Since poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) is known to be far less stable than PS on a quanta-absorbed basis, MMA units have been incorporated into the chain to act as weak links. For energy sinks, 1-VN and 2-VN units have been made part of the chain. [Pg.248]
