Modular intermeshing counter-rotating twin-screw extruders intended for compounding were developed in the 1960s by Tenner [158] of Leistritz AG The modular elements of the Leistritz GG (for gegenlaufiger = counter-rotating) twin-screw extruder are shown in Fig. 9.28.
