Inspection in situ

Industrial applications of Raman imaging fiberscope technology include remote sensing, waste tank inspection, in situ corrosion analysis, and reactor vessel monitoring. Potential clinical applications include minimally invasive optical biopsy. 

The channels can be Inspected in situ by television cameras and the pipework layout is arranged so that, if considered necessary, complete channels can be removed for full examination. A comprehensive in-core monitoring programme will supplement data from out-of-pile and materials reactor tests. The larger components of the primary circuit can be fully Inspected. In particular, it Is possible to isolate each steam drum from its circuit to permit full visual and direct Inspection of both internal and external surfaces without removing fuel from the core.
