Insertion reactions of carbon dioxide

In general, the insertion reaction of carbon dioxide into metal hydrogen bonds is formally much akin to the analogous process involving olefins (Scheme 1). This analogy is particularly appropriate since the binding of... [Pg.137]

Metal Alkoxides. Notwithstanding our understanding of the mechanistic aspects operative in insertion reaction of carbon dioxide with metal-hydride and metal-carbon (alkyls or aryls) bonds has... [Pg.31]

Abstract This chapter deals with the insertion reactions of carbon dioxide (CO2) into E-X bonds, where E and X represent several different (sets of) atoms, such as M-H, M-OH, M-C, M-OR, M-O2, M-N, M-P, C-C, C-N, Si-H, and M-M (M = metal). Such reactions are relevant to catalysis for the formation of new bonds in which CO2 may be implied (C-C bonds or C-E bonds) and thus to the conversion of CO2 into added-value chemicals. The insertion product can be thermodynamically and kineticaUy stable or labile, offering in the latter case the opportunity of a catalytic path. [Pg.85]

A picture of the mechanistic features characterizing the insertion reactions of carbon dioxide in a few of these systems has been provided by means of computational studies. [Pg.109]

Insertion reactions of carbon dioxide are attracting renewed interest. Reaction of methyloxiran at room, temperature with only 1 atm. of CO2 and MoCls-PPha as catalyst leads to 4-methyl-l,3 dioxolan-2-one. Without the metal catalyst both high temperatures and high carbon dioxide pressures are required to achieve the same reaction. [Pg.221]

Insertion reactions of carbon dioxide into P-N, As-N, Si-N and Hg-O bonds are also reported. For example, addition of carbon dioxide to the amides of trivalent phosphorous... [Pg.60]
