Input-output information for the internal spatial structure space

Design specifications Design/operationai variabies Domain knowledge [Pg.108]

For this spatial configuration the multilevel approach involves the derivation of two levels of different complexity and degree of aggregation. These levels are characterized by inherent assumptions, particular constraints and modeling objectives. All these features are derived from mass, energy and momentum balances and thermodynamic constitutive expressions. [Pg.109]

Recalling the engineering and scientific design questions given in chapter 1, in this chapter we address question 6, namely, [Pg.109]

The envelop defined at this level of aggregation is delimited by the overall superstructure (see figure 6.1). The streams of mass and heat are given by ( ) the feed streams entering the structure (n) the product and side streams leaving the structure and Hi) all heat transferred to the structure. [Pg.109]

At this input-output level the following assumptions are considered ( ) steady-state modeling (n) multiple feeds (nfeed ), side draw-off streams (notr Z+), heat streams (n, Z+), reactions rirx Z+) and components (uc Z+) and Hi) single bottom and distillate streams. Component and energy balances are performed over the structure. The component molar balances MC) include the distillate, bottom, feed and draw-off streams and the production (or consumption) of species due to chemical reaction. [Pg.109]
