Inorganic structure

The two major databases containing information obtained from X-ray structure analysis of small molecules are the Cambridge Structural Database (CSD) [25] and the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database (ICSD) [26] both are available as in-house versions. CSD provides access to organic and organometallic structures (mainly X-ray structures, with some structures from neutron diffraction), data which are mostly unpublished. The ICSD contains inorganic structures. [Pg.258]

The Tg-based octa-anion TglO lg can be seen as a model for the well-known D4R found in inorganic structures such as zeolite A. Synthesis of TglO Jg can be achieved more readily than many other POSS species and it can be obtained in quantitative yield from the reaction of a tetra-alkoxysilane with H2O (10 equiv./Si) in the presence of Me4NOH (1 equiv./Si) in methanol at room temperature for 1 day (Figure Alcoholysis of T8[OSiMe2H]g causes terminal Si-O bond... [Pg.48]

The analyses of the inorganic structures with the D parameter have led us to the following conclusion. The ions that have a stronger preference in their environment determine the local structure. The other ions will be arranged in close packing if the arrangement is consistent with the local structure. In other words, close packing does not determine the structure but is a consequence of the cation-anion interaction. [Pg.42]

The book is a great collection of inorganic structures described mostly from the viewpoint of close packing and bcc. [Pg.44]

Most of the differences between inorgcmic, organic and protein crystals lies in the fact that ionic forces (found mostly in inorganic structures) depend upon interatomic distances but not on angle. In contrast, covalent bonds (such as those which predominate in organic and protein... [Pg.62]
