Inner Kingdom

The tower stands upon a promontory within the inner kingdom, the hill of power. Psychologically, this represents the most developed personality complex (persona, Latin for mask ) in the individual. It is the personality that undergoes the serious redevelopment, the rebuilding, that this and any other spiritual discipline involves. One cannot become an adept and remain the same. 

Tower of the Art itself. From this prospect, the circular shaft of the tower is featureless, save for the westward-facing, oval window of the Chamber of Indwelling. And, above the tower s battlements shines the White Sun of Kether—never-setting, constant, and abiding. No matter what time of day or night, or what seasonal appearance may impose itself upon your inner kingdom, the White Sun ever crowns the tower. It is the true beacon by which we ever navigate on the Path of Return. 

Use other sessions to examine the courtyard and the land that lies immediately beyond. Take the journey over the bridge to the edge of the forest. Familiarize yourself with it all—it is your inner kingdom get to know it. Record the details in your journal. And be sure to manifest the castle in some way. Draw or paint it make it in plasticine or clay perhaps create a computer graphic image (be sure you print it out so that it is earthed ). Until some form of manifestation is made, elements of the subconsciousness will not believe in your image. If that is the case, it is all pointless. 

Readers familiar with the Arthurian legends, may wonder why none of the practices given in this book, enact the famous scene of Arthur drawing the sword from out of the stone. The reason for this is that, as soon as you commence to perform the practices you have, in effect, drawn the sword of spiritual will from out of the stone of material inertia. Furthermore, each time you sit with the intention of performing the Work, the royal sword is freed from the stone and you again prove your unalienable right to rule your inner kingdom. 

Chemical analyses of membranes isolated from various sources reveal certain common properties. Each kingdom, each species, each tissue or cell type, and the organelles of each cell type have a characteristic set of membrane lipids. Plasma membranes, for example, are enriched in cholesterol and contain no detectable cardiolipin (Fig. 11-2) in the inner mitochondrial membrane of the hepatocyte, this distribution is reversed very low cholesterol and high cardiolipin. Cardiolipin is essential to the function of certain proteins of the inner mitochondrial membrane. Cells clearly have mechanisms to control the kinds and amounts of membrane lipids they synthesize and to target specific lipids to particular organelles. In many cases, we can surmise the adaptive advantages of distinct combinations of membrane lipids in other cases, the functional significance of these combinations is as yet unknown. 

Pectin and related substances are widespread in the plant kingdom. They are normally obtained from the dilute acid extract of the inner portion of citrus peels or from apple pomace. The extraction of pectin is carried out at elevated temperatures at a controlled pH. The process must be very carefully checked in order to avoid a possible hydrolysis of glycosidic and ester linkages. The crude extract is concen-... 

Algae are members of the plant kingdom and contain chloroplasts similar to those of higher plants, but prokaryotic photosynthetic organisms do not have chloroplasts. In prokaryotes, the photochemical reactions occur in the plasma membrane, which has extensive invaginations resembling the cristae of the mitochondrial inner membrane (fig. 15.3). Table 15.1 summarizes the main distinctions between the various types of photosynthetic organisms. 

When one explores this inner space, the depths of consciousness (Jesus called it "the Kingdom of Heaven which is within you"), he finds experiences that have no counterpart in ordinary life, and so is at a loss as to how he can explain it to one who has not explored. All that he can say is, You must experience it for yourself before you will really understand. 

This Mumia, which encompasses the outer, earthly body of the Human Being like a lucid envelope, can be found in all Kingdoms of Nature, because no body could exist without this Life-Balsam s inner Magnet. 

It is the inner Chaos, through which the Soul must pass the inner sea of malice and bitterness, the Kingdom of Demons, whose restless floods recede and are being banished by the will-power of the Soul, which is being led by divine Light. 

Makarov invented a new type of mass spectrometer by modifying the Kingdom trap with specially shaped outer and inner electrodes (see Fig. 2.28). Also, in this case a purely electrostatic held is obtained by a dc voltage applied to the inner electrode. Ions injected into the device undergo a periodic motion that can be considered the result of three different periodic motions (1) rotation around the inner electrode (2) radial oscillation and (3) axial oscillations. These three components exhibit well-defined frequencies ... 

The Czar s one Mendeleev knew of sixty-one islands of the kingdom (fig. 10), and sought the chemical relationships between them that would order them into a unity. Only three-fifths of the current kingdom was known he had to have courage to listen to his inner voice and to conclude that some regions had not yet been discovered. Better to leave gaps to complete later, perhaps to guide... 

This is the point where the explanation of the kingdom hangs on the existence of nodal planes. Recall that we have said that an electron in any of the s-orbitals can be found at the nucleus but an electron in any other type of orbital cannot. With that in mind, try to imagine the distribution of an electron in a 2s-orbital in lithium. The electron is mostly distributed as a shell of cloud around the two electrons that occupy the inner, spherical ls-orbital. These two inner electrons effectively cancel two units of positive charge of the nucleus. As a result, the outermost electron, which we shall call a 2s-electron, experiences only the pull of this partly canceled, or shielded, charge. However, the 2s-orbital is a cloud with a central core...
