Injection process, brines containing

In solution mining, hot brine containing NaCl and some KCl is injected into the ore vein where it dissolves more KCl than NaCl. With clarification and cooling, KCl crystallizes but the NaCl stays in solution. The brine is reheated and recirculated to continue the process. Deeper deposits may be mined by this technique and greater toteil recovery of K is possible than in conventional room-and-pillar shaft mining. [Pg.534]
