Inhibitory effect neural control

Thalidomide caused profound alterations in the morphogenesis of the encephalon in the developing chick embryo in vitro. Platyneuria occurred in 82% compared with 23% in the control group. Thahdomide has an inhibitory effect on growth, as measured by failure of closure of the neural plate, which can be reversed by the addition of ATP to the cultures (164). 

Inhibitory controls are found in the glomerular microcircuits which underlie the PB effect, and could represent a common model for the local functions of the AOB (Brennan, 1990 Taylor, 1991). Indeed, its simplicity has led to suggestions that it represents an evolutionary conserved neural subset (Fig. 5.4) for mate-recognition (Keveme, 1990... 

The intestinal phase, which occurs as chyme enters the duodenum. This involves many inhibitory controls neural and endocrine mechanisms limit the rate of stomach emptying so that the secretory and absorptive mechanisms of the small intestine can cope effectively with the entry of gastric contents.
