Infrequent process planning

The nonconformity data should be collected and quantified using one of the seven quality tools (see Part 2 Chapter 14), preferably the Pareto analysis. You can then devise a plan to reduce the 20% of causes that account for 80% of the nonconformities. However, take care not to degrade other processes by your actions (see Theorg ofcon-staints in Part 2 Chapter 2). The plan should detail the action to be taken to eliminate the cause and the date by which a specified reduction is to be achieved. You should also monitor the reduction. The appropriate data collection measures therefore need to be in place to gather the data at a rate commensurate with the production schedule. Monthly analysis may be too infrequent analysis by shift may be more appropriate. 

These refer to the control of a chemical process and include planning for familiar tasks (e.g., change type of fuel-firing in a furnace) or planning for familiar but infrequent tasks (e.g., start-up or shutdown a furnace). Methods of task analysis and error analysis can be used to analyze well-established strategies that operators use to perform procedural tasks and identify the user s information needs. It is also necessary to consider what implications the tool has on the work processes, and the practical realizations. As outlined in Section 5, decision situations occur at different levels in an organisation. However, we believe that RAM analysis will be fit for strategic-and tactical-level decisions, more than decisions at an operational level. Because of the comprehensive type of analysis, and time and recourses required, RAM analyses are not suitahle for frequent (weekly or daily) use. Long-term planning is typically supported by RAM analyses at a yearly or half-yearly basis. Another example is renegotiation of frame agreements that is more infrequent, normally with a five or ten-year horizon. Most likely, Such RAM analyses will be handled by operational support located onshore.
