Indium complexes bipyridyl

The five-co-ordinate indium complexes CaFsInChLCL = MesN CHa-CHa NMes, 2,2 -bipyridyl, 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2 6, 2"-terpyridyl, or PhaP-CHa CHa -PPha) are obtained by reaction of the dioxan complex CeFsInCIaCCaHsOa) (Vol. 2, p. 430) with the appropriate ligands. Reaction of the dioxan complex with pyridine, triphenylphosphine, or dimethyl sulphoxide yields indium(iii) chloride and a tris-pentafiuorophenylindium complex, and the compounds (CeFs)iiIn(quinolin-8-olate)3- ( = 1 or 2) have also been prepared. ... [Pg.440]

Preparations of tris-bipyridyl (156, 519) and tris-phenanthroline indium(III) complexes have been described. The d<- d bands fall in the region of the ligand tt <-> tt transitions. The luminescence spectra of the cations are considered to arise from n d transitions (739). Cis-[Ir(phen)2Cl2]Cl is known (156) and has been resolved (104). However, the complex originally claimed as irans-[Ir(phen).2Cl2]Cl-3H20 (156) and shown to react with hydrochloric acid (452) is, in fact, (phen H+)[Ir(phen)Cl4] (104). The compounds [Ir(phen)2X.2]+ [Ir(phen)X4] are known (X = Cl, Br, or I) and the cations probably have cis configurations. [Pg.185]

The formation constants of indium(m)-l,10-phenanthroline and -2,2 -bipyridyl complexes have been determined, as follows (1,10-phen)... [Pg.215]
