The 2-D / -space data set is Fourier transformed, and the magnitude image generated from the real and imaginary outputs of the Fourier transform. 

Computers will be integrated more and more into commercial SEMs and there is an enormous potential for the growth of computer supported applications. At the same time, related instruments will be developed and extended, such as the scanning ion microscope, which uses liquid-metal ion sources to produce finely focused ion beams that can produce SEs and secondary ions for image generation. The contrast mechanisms that are exhibited in these instruments can provide new insights into materials analysis.

Positron emission tomography (PET) is an imaging technique that relies on the emission of positrons from radionucleotides tagged to an injectable compound of interest. Each positron emitted by the radioisotope collides with an electron to emit two photons at 180° from each other. The photons are detected and the data processed so that the source of the photons can be identified and an image generated showing the anatomical localization of the compound of interest. 

Metal complex dyes and pigments perform key functions in both the image generation step and the toner development step. It is the metal complex pigment that produces the positive hole in the organic photoconductor. 

It is also paramount to visualize the images of the identified hits. The path information and file name information of the control images generated by CellProfiler can be used to this end. In KNIME all the images of the hits can be opened using the Picture Chooser node. In this manner, all the control images with the corresponding object outlines can be quickly visualized.
