Illicit drugs ketamine

Phencyclidine has been favoured as an illicit drug of abuse for some 20 years, but such a use appears to have declined recently owing to the availability of relatively inexpensive cocaine. The drug has the street names of "PCP", "angel dust and "crystal". The structures of phencyclidine and ketamine are shown in Figure 15.7. [Pg.409]

Screening for a group of illicit drugs, so-called club drugs, rape drugs, or party drugs, was carried out with a dual-mode ITMS. The reduced mobility values of ketamine, GHB (gamma-hydroxybutyrate), ephedrine, flunitrazepam, methamphet-amine, MDA (3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine), amphetamine, Amph-sulfate, and MDMA were reported, and the preferred mode of detection was noted. [Pg.309]

KETAMINE An anesthetic abused for its mind-altering effects that is popular as an illicit club drug. It is sometimes used to facilitate sexual assault, or date rape. [Pg.44]

CLUB DRUGS Mostly synthetic, illicit substances found at raves and nightclubs. This group includes LSD, ecstasy, GHB, Rohypnol, ketamine, and methamphetamine. [Pg.277]

There is also an illicit use of dextromethorphan. Teenagers and young adults commonly abuse this drug. When dextromethorphan is abused in higher doses, it acts as a dissociative anesthetic, similar to PCP and ketamine. Slang terms for dextromethorphan include DM, DXM, Dex, skittles. Triple C, Tussin, robo, rojo, and velvet. [Pg.324]
