Ice Cream Parlor

Community and institutional pharmacy practices generally offer a variety of medication-related goods and services. A representative list can be found in Table 5-1. CARBOHYDRATELAND is shaped like a slice of cake. It contains a small, accessory powerhouse (the Penthouse Powerhouse) (fig. 1.2), a carbohydrate Storage Room, an Ice Cream Parlor, and a Conjugation area. 

Lactose, seen in the Ice Cream Parlor, is synthesized preferentially in the mammary glands. Lactase, which facilitates the breakdown of lactose to glucose and galactose, is found in microvilli of the small intestine. Glucuronate synthesis occurs largely in the liver where it is used to conjugate bilirubin and to detoxify various chemicals in preparation for excretion.
