Hypotension gentamicin

In hypercalcemia, excessive volume depletion, hyponatremia, and hypotension are major risks associated with the use of loop diuretics, and the side effects of hypokalemia, hyperuricemia, and hyperglycemia are always present. Loop diuretics should not be used concurrently with ototoxic aminoglycoside antibiotics (i.e., streptomycin, gentamicin, kanamycin, tobramycin). [Pg.114]

During 1963—1973 documentation of approximately 3500 patients treated with gentamicin has revealed the following incidence of adverse effects unrelated to nephrotoxicity or ototoxicity 16 cases (0.46%) of increased serum transaminase, 16 cases (0.46%) of maculopapular or urticarial skin rashes, 8 cases (0.23%) of granulocytopenia, 4 cases (0.11%) of anaemia, and 2 cases (0.06%) of thrombocytopenia (9 ). Neuromuscular blockade associated with the use of gentamicin has so far been described in 3 patients (16 "). Hypotensive episodes during therapy with gentamicin have been observed (2a ). [Pg.209]
