2-Hydroxycyclohexyl radicals

As the proposed mechanism involves transients with Cu carbon a-bonds, via the predicted reaction of the 2-hydroxycyclohexyl radical with Cu +, it seemed of interest to study the detailed mechanism of reaction (71). For this purpose it was decided to start with the study of reaction (70). 2-Hydroxycyclohexyl radicals are easily prepared via the reaction of OH radicals with cyclohexene. Surprisingly it was found that its reaction with copper(II) is very slow and instead the reaction observed is that with copper(I) to yield the transient in reaction (73) (89). Thus even though the steady state concentration of Cu(I) in the catalytical system is rather low the 2-hydroxycyclohexyl radical will preferably react with Cu(I). [Pg.305]

Pulse radiolysis has been used to investigate the reactions of radicals with molybdenum(V) porphyrins such as [MoO(TPP)Cl] and with oxy hemoproteins. The CHj radical reacts with [Cu(gly)2] to give an adduct with decomposes to the copper(III) species, [Cu(gly)2], and CH4. The former species decomposes rapidly by ligand oxidation. Pulse radiolysis studies of the oxidation of the 2-hydroxycyclohexyl radical indicate that the key intermediate is a transient complex formed with [Cu q]. The bound... [Pg.46]

The / -hydroxycyclohexyl radical has been studied for its allylation reactions with allylstannane and the same preference for trans attack is found35. [Pg.23]

Hydrogen peroxide decay in cyclohexanol oxidation occurs by several routes, (a) By reaction with hydroxycyclohexyl radicals [57]... [Pg.134]

Hydroxycyclohexyl phenyl ketone this is a snbstituted acetophenone and decomposes by a Norrish type-1 mechanism to prodnce free radicals. [Pg.32]
