Hydrazine hydrazino acrylate

Standard Procedure Using a Focused Microwave Oven for Compounds 3a, b, d-f A mixture of ethyl 3-dimethylamino acrylate la-c (2 mmol) and the appropriate hydrazine 2a-d was placed in a cylindrical quartz tube. The tube was then introduced into a synthewave 402 Prolabo microwave reactor. Microwave irradiation was carried out at the appropriate reaction time. The mixture was allowed to cool down. After addition of CH2CI2 (10 mL) in the reactor and removal of solvent in vacuo, the crude residue was purified by chromatography on silica gel 60 F 254 (Merck) or by recrystallization with the appropriate solvent. Solvent evaporation gave the desired ethyl a-hetero- S-hydrazino acrylate 3 as a viscous oil which crystallized on standing.
