Hybrid dryer

One of the commercially successful hybrid dryers built on the 50 Q. technology is the RF-vacuum dryer for bulk solids such as sawn wood [100], At lower drying temperatures, resulting from reduced boiling point under vacuum, wood retains mechanical strength so it is less susceptible to drying defects such as checking. Because moisture is... [Pg.482]

Dewatering of glycol is a difficult separation by distillation alone, so a hybrid process of the type shown in Figure 9.13(a) has been proposed. The product of the distillation step is approximately 90% glycol/10 /i- water. This mixture is then sent to a pervaporation unit to remove most of the water as a discharge-able product. The glycol concentrate produced by the pervaporation unit contains 1-2 wt% water and can be sent to an optional adsorption dryer if further dehydration is required. [Pg.376]

Freeze dryer with cooling system that allows plate temperatures of -55°C, e.g. Beta 2-16 (Martin Christ GmbH), equipped with cooling-trap and hybrid-pump (see Note 1). [Pg.206]

RNA, if not too small, can also be detected by in-gel hybridization. Instead of denaturation/neutralization, the formaldehyde-containing gel is washed for 30 min in 0.1 M Tris-HCI (pH 7.5) (Wallace and Miyada, 1987). Ahmad et al. (1990) fractionated RNA in a formaldehyde-containing agarose gel in MOPS buffer (Section 9.1.3), washed the gel in DEPC-treated water (twice) and placed it between two sheets of gel blot paper (S S GB002) before drying in a gel dryer as described in the previous section. They hybridized with cDNA at 42°C in 50% formamide, 5 X Denhardt s solution and 5 X SSPE as described in Section 9.3.2. [Pg.219]

Solar dryers are generally classified [14] according to their heating modes or the manner in which the heat derived from solar radiation is utilized. These classes include sun or natural dryers, direct solar dryers, indirect solar dryers, hybrid systems, and mixed systems. [Pg.615]

Hybrid systems are dryers in which another form of energy, such as fuel or electricity, is used to supplement solar energy for heating and ventilation. [Pg.615]
