Light chains controlled by the c locus appear, from a comparison with human and mouse L chains, to be of the X type (71-73). The evidence includes the presence of a blocked N-terminal group (pyrrolidone-carboxylic acid), the C-terminal dipeptide, -Cys-Ser, characteristic of k chains, and the sequence of eight amino acids at the C-terminus (Table 9.2). [Pg.357]
