How to dry a solution over magnesium sulphate

Place the solution to be cliied in a clean, dry conical flask. The flask siiould not be more than half-full. [Pg.41]

Add smalT quantities of MgS04 (between 0.1 g and 1.0 g depending upon the volume of solvent) and swirl the conical flask between each addition. [Pg.41]

At first the MgSOn will slick lo the sides and bottom of the flask where it contacts with the water, but on further additions it will eventually form a free-flowing powder in the liquid and the solution will appear very cloar and bright. [Pg.41]

Gravity filter the dried solvent layer through a fluted filter paper into a clean, dry flask. Thu [Pg.41]
