How Do Hydrate Plugs Form in Industrial Equipment

Considering hydrate formation and prevention, the physical conditions necessary for hydrates are 

The correct conditions of temperature and pressure—usually low temperature and high pressure 

Without any one of the above conditions, hydrates will not form. However, removing some of the above conditions may be impractical  

To remove the guest molecule (e.g., methane) may be to remove the reason for the process. 

To use an insufficient gas pressure (typically less than 225 psia or 1.5 MPa) may decrease the energy density to a point that it is not economical.
