Study of the kinases which can be activated by the IL-6 family suggested that their signal transduction system may differ from those of growth factors. It also suggested that some kind of tyrosine phosphorylation is involved in the process (Hoffman-Liebermann and Liebermann, 1991a Lord et al., 1991 Michishita et al., 1991 Murakami et al., 1991). 

The extent to which the Data Protection Act 1984 protected privacy is debatable but, nonetheless, judicial comment and interpretation of that statute has acknowledged the link between the two. In a case which was appealed to the House of Lords, Lord Hoffman... 

This policy was enunciated by Lord Hoffman in Stovin, supra, note 41 where His Lordship qualified the Australian Case Sutherland Shire Council v. Heyman (1985) C.L.R. 424 at 464 in which Mason J. established a doctrine of general reliance.
