3 1996 Moveable ETFE-foil cushion, Olympic Park, Munich [Pg.194]

The moveable ETFE-foil cushion in the Olympic Park of Munich, built in 1996 (Fig. 6.8), is one of the first mobile elevating roofs in the form of a pneumatic ETFE-foil roof. The two-layered ETFE-foil cushion serves as roofing for the facilities of the Olympiapark GmbH. It has a diameter of about 23 metres. The outer membrane layer consists of PTFE laminated airtight fibreglass mesh the lower membrane layer consists of ETFE-foils, [Pg.194]

One of the first air-inflated structures made from ETFE-foUs among other materials that is stabilised by negative pressure is the temporary hall, called Airtecture , of the company Festo in Esslingen, Germany, built in 1996. [Pg.195]
