Another case in which they check the formula is that of the Kummer surface KA of an abelian surface as a resolution of the quotient of A by G(2) = Z/2 acting by x i —x. We will now generalize this result to the higher order Kummer varieties KAn-i. Let A be an abelian surface. Let... 

S = A is a two-dimensional abelian variety over C then a = a A —> A, so we have KA i — g 1(0). In this case I An-i has been defined in [Beauville (1),(2),(3)]. There it has also been shown that A An i is a smooth symplectic variety, and thus a new family of symplectic varieties was constructed. KAX is the Kummer surface of A. So we can see the ArAn i as higher order Kummer varieties of A. This is the more important case.
