Surface barrier detectors, high resolution

An ORTEC Octete Plus high resolution a-spectrometry system was used to measure uranium isotopes and thorium a-emitters. The system consisted of eight independently-operated, 450 mm silicon surface barrier detectors located in separate chambers connected to a vacuum pump.
