Hexamethylbenzene ruthenium Complexes Containing Hydride and ortho-Metallated Triphenylphosphine

A second crop of product may be obtained by evaporating the filtrate under reduced pressure and adding hexane. The yields in different preparations vary from 0.50 to 0.64 g (65-84%). The analytical sample is recrystallized from tetrahydrofuran (THF)-hexane. 

All manipulations must be carried out in an inert atmosphere using standard Schlenk techniques and solvents that have been freshly distilled under nitrogen or argon. Methyllithium ( 5% solution in diethyl ether obtained from Ega Chemie or Aldrich) is standardized before use.4
