HETEROLEPTIC RZnY COMPOUNDS

The third reaction pathway involves the redistribntion reaction of a diaUcyl- or diarylzinc compound with a zinc salt. An example of this ronte is the formation of the nnsolvated organozinc halides EtZnCl, EtZnBr and EtZnI from the reaction of pure EtiZn with the corresponding zinc halide in a 1 1 ratio  [Pg.83]

A factor that always should be taken into account in case of heteroleptic monoorganozinc compounds, especially in solution, is the existence of Schlenk equilibria (equation 21). [Pg.83]

The equilibrium position is dependent on several factors (i) the natnre of the groups bound to zinc, (ii) the nature and polarity of the solvent and (iii) the presence of additional donor molecules. It is therefore dangerous to draw conclusions from structnral information about materials that crystallize from these equilibrium mixtures. Such solid materials are not necessarily representative for the bulk material. [Pg.83]
