Herbicides by Class

Phloem transport in plants has been reviewed by Crafts and Crisp, and general aspects of chemistry and systemicity of herbicides have been reviewed by Kearney and Kaufman, Ashton and Crafts, Matolcsy et and Hathway. In the following brief discussion of the transport behavior of herbicides, references to the original literature are generally confined to more recent work, and the reader is referred to the above comprehensive reviews for further details of earlier work. 

The herbicides considered in this section are listed by chemical class in Table 9.1. Some compounds could qualify for inclusion in more than one class, and these have been classified with compounds sharing a common mode of action (where known).
