Heart failure treatment

DiDomenico RJ, Park HY, Southworth MR, et al. Guidelines for acute decompensated heart failure treatment. Ann Pharmacother 2004 38 649-660. [Pg.61]

Congestive heart failure treatment may be improved by cautiously adding a /3-blocker to conventional management with ACE-inhibitors and diuretics. Bisoprolol and carvedilol are the preferable /3-blockers, since their beneficial effect has been convincngly demonstrated in appropriate clinical trials. Bisoprolol is a highly selective /8i-blocker. Carvedilol has additional properties to its /8-receptor blocking activity, such as a weak vasodilator component and anti-oxidant activity. The beneficial effect is very likely to be caused by /8i-adrenoceptor blockade. [Pg.326]

Guyatt GH, Devereaux PJ. A review of heart failure treatment. Mt Sinai J Med. 2004 71 47-54. [Pg.345]

Apart from skin injuries the symptoms of poisoning by chlorodinitrobenzene are similar to those produced by dinitrobenzene, namely general bodily weakness, cyanosis, a decrease of the number of red blood cells, disturbances in the functioning of digestive organs and heart failure. Treatment and recovery sometimes prove most difficult especially with regard to the digestive tract and the heart, whereas skin lesions are relatively easier to heal. [Pg.455]

CARDIAC GLYCOSIDES have a pronounced effect on the failing heart, increasing the force of contraction, so they were formerly widely used to Increase the force in congestive heart failure treatment (e.g. digitoxin, digoxin). [Pg.67]

ADRENOCEPTOR AGONIST Selective for the p2 Subtype, also with activity as a (peripheral D,) DOPAMINE RECEPTOR AGONIST. Therapeutically, it can be used in HEART FAILURE treatment. Dopram doxapram. [Pg.105]

P,-selectivity. It can be used in HEART FAILURE TREATMENT, prenalterol hydrochloride prenalterol. prenylamine [ban, inn, usan] is a phenylpropylamine. a coronary VASODILATOR its use in antianginal treatment has diminished due to toxicity. It depletes catecholamines in the heart and has some CALCIUM-CHANNEL BLOCKER activity. Prepadine dothiepin. [Pg.231]
