The ernes of ionic surfactants are usually depressed by tire addition of inert salts. Electrostatic repulsion between headgroups is screened by tire added electrolyte. This screening effectively makes tire surfactants more hydrophobic and tliis increased hydrophobicity induces micellization at lower concentrations.
