Health and Safety Factors (Toxicology). Manufacture of cyanamide and calcium cyanamide does not present any serious health hazard. Ingestion of alcohoHc beverages by workmen within several hours of leaving work sometimes results in a vasomotor reaction known as cyanamide flush. Cyanamide interferes with the oxidation of alcohol and accumulation of acetaldehyde probably accounts for this temporary phenomenon. Although extremely unpleasant, it has not been known to result in serious illness or to have any permanent effect.

Sax (Ref 10) compares Ca silicide to calcium hydroxide as a skin, eye and respiratory system irritant, and to the silanes as a great fire and explosion hazard. Ingestion of Ca silicide may cause death or permanent injury after very short exposure to small quantities... 

Methanol highly flammable, toxic by inhalation, ingestion or skin absorption, may be a reproductive hazard, ingestion may be fatal, risk of very serious, irreversible damage if swallowed, exposure may cause eye, kidney, heart and liver damage, chronic or substantial acute exposure may cause serious eye damage, including blindness, irritant, narcotic... 

Hazard Ingestion of substantial amounts will create bodily chloride imbalance with harmful effects. Use Source of magnesium, bromine, sodium chloride, and fresh water source of hydrogen. 

Lithium aluminum hydride is highly corrosive to the skin, eyes, and mucous membranes. Contact with moisture forms lithium hydroxide, which can cause severe bums. Powdered LAH forms dusts that can pose an inhalation hazard. Ingestion of this substance may cause aching muscles, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and unconsciousness and may be fatal. Ingestion can result in gas embohsm due to the formation of hydrogen.
