Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP). FIAZOP is a formally structured method of systematically investigating each element of a system for all of the ways in which important parameters can deviate from the intended design conditions to create hazards and operability problems. The timing of a hazard 1 study is normally as soon as possible , after the initial requirement for a process or item of equipment has been identified. The study team is composed of the potential role players in the design, building and operating of the plant. The study team examines the concept of the plant in the form of a simple flow diagram and outline descriptions to identify all significant hazards and environmental problems as early as possible.
