Figure 4.34 presents the age-hardening curves for Pb—Ca—Sn alloys with 0.06 wt% Ca content and two different concentrations of Sn [69]. The alloy with higher Sn content solidifies more... [Pg.187]

Up to a strain of about 1 the usual strain-hardening curve was obtained that is in good agreement with the following generally accepted equation ... [Pg.211]

Moisture-dependent effective shear hardening curves cr (sP). The initial, critical, and failure volume fractions, (f, fc, and fp). [Pg.820]

Generate a hardness profile for a cylindrical steel specimen that has been austenitized and then quenched, given the hardenability curve for the specific alloy, as well as quenching rate-versus-bar diameter information. [Pg.409]

The hardenability curves also depend on carbon content. This effect is demonstrated in Figure 11.16 for a series of alloy steels in which only the concentration of carbon is varied. The hardness at any Jominy position increases with the concentration of carbon. [Pg.445]

Determination of hardenability is accomplished by the standard Jominy end-quench test (Figure 11.12), from which hardenability curves are generated. [Pg.459]

A hardenability curve plots hardness versus distance from the quenched end of a Jominy specimen. Hardness decreases with distance from the quenched end (Figure 11.13) because the quenching rate decreases with this distance, as does the martensite content. Each steel alloy has its own distinctive hardenability curve. [Pg.459]
