Haploid spermatids

Steger K. Transcriptional and translational regulation of gene expression in haploid spermatids. Anat Embryol 1999 199 471 87. [Pg.93]

Interesting data have been obtained during hybridization of haploid mice spermatids with proliferating HeLa cells. Heterokaryons which contain spermatid nuclei were obtained when polyethylen-glycol was used as a fusion agent rather than inactivated Sendar virus. The intensity of DNA synthesis was similar in spermatid and HeLa nuclei. The synthesis of DNA in HeLa nuclei started earlier than in the spermatid nuclei. The results of observations show that the reactivation and reparation of haploid spermatid genomes is possible when they are hybridized with proliferating cells (Elsevier and Ruddle, 1976). [Pg.137]
