Handling and Storage of Hydrated Lime

Hydrated lime is generally supplied to small users in paper sacks or intermediate bulk containers (IBCs or big bags ) of 0.5 or 11 capacity. Where larger amounts are used, the product is delivered in air pressure discharge vehicles (APDVs). [Pg.226]

The flow characteristics of hydrated lime can vary widely, with the angle of repose ranging from almost 0 ° when it is aerated, to 90 ° when it is compacted and/or damp. Its handling properties, however, do not generally cause problems, providing its moisture content is less than 2 % and normal powder handling techniques are used. [Pg.226]

Hydrated lime absorbs carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, forming calcium carbonate and water. It should, therefore, be stored in dry, draught-free conditions. [Pg.226]
