Hamming matrix

Specification of the CUT Ham ikon ian matrix elements limn in Ih e auinnc orbital basis set. [Pg.269]

Microscope observations and chemical analyses help locate the Fe oxides in the fabric of matrix soil particles. Single Fe oxide-containing aggregates which appear uniform to the naked eye, may vary appreciably in Fe content and mineralogy (Ford-ham Norrish, 1979). SEM and TEM photos show goethite and hematite crystals in strongly developed soils to be associated in a more or less systematic fashion with flakes of kaolinite, usually the main matrix mineral in such soils (Fig. 16.19 a-c)... [Pg.469]

The Pauling bond order (PBO) concept was introduced by L. Pauling, L. O. Brockway, and J. Y. Beach [1] (1935). The determination of the PBOs requires counting Kekule structures in GBSs. N. S. Ham [16] (1958) proved that, for a KBS, Pauling s bond order pu for neighbouring carbon atoms i, j equals the bond order defined by K. Ruedenberg [17] (1954) which results from LCAO-MO considerations further, he showed that ptJ is equal to the entry in position (i, j) of the inverse A 1 of the adjacency matrix A of the system (note that, by Eq. (2), det A = K2 > 0). [Pg.149]

This conservation is a consequence of assumption (ii), namely, that mutants originate exclusively through erroneous replication and not through external interferences such as radiation or chemical attack. (If this assumption is relaxed, destruction terms must be subtracted in the conservation law to balance the additional first-order off-diagonal mutation terms.) The nondiagonal elements of the value matrix depend strongly on the Hamming distance d(i,k) between template i and erroneous replica k. For the uniform error rate model the expression reads... [Pg.159]

The Hamming distance d(i, k) and the elements of the value matrix W can be expressed in terms of these spin values ... [Pg.195]

Another rather interesting relation between the resonance theory and elementary MO theory was established by Ham and Ruedenberg 107>. Let Pp be the Pauling bond-order matrix known from resonance theory 179>. If the adjacency matrix of the -th Kekute graph is Aj, then... [Pg.86]
