Hall effect extraordinary

Due to the presence of the anomalous Hall effect (known also as the extraordinary or spin Hall effect), magnetotransport measurements provide valuable information on the magnetism of thin films. The Hall resistance / Haii is empirically known to be a sum of ordinary and anomalous Hall terms,... [Pg.27]

Wu et al. (1993) have studied the canting model in more detail and have given both the calculated and experimental data as shown in fig. 53 for Tbjc(FeCo)i t alloys with A w 1800. It is seen clearly that there is an anomalous drop near the compensation point when using torque magnetometry with the field at 45". The figure also shows the experimental data and calculated ATu curve in terms of the extraordinary Hall effect. We notice that the torque technique produces a wider and deeper apparent dip and the Hall effect techniques produce a much narrower dip for the T-dominant case and a narrow peak for the R-dominant case. [Pg.135]

However, the overall thermal variation up to room temperature must have another origin since a-Pu is a spin-fluctuation system, in which magnetic scattering is important. As has been shown by Lapierre et al. (1987), in spin-fluctuation systems asymmetric scattering is certainly present, giving rise to an extraordinary Hall effect (see sect. 2.4.2), and its thermal variation reflects that of the magnetic resistivity. This is even more obvious in the case of /3-Pu (see fig. 20), where the Hall resistivity closely follows the thermal variation of the electrical resistivity. [Pg.445]

No Hall effect measurements on Ce metal are reported after 1963 (Gschneidner and Smoluchowski 1963) and there are no detailed investigations of the pure a- and y-Ce phase showing the extraordinary Hall effect. Such studies would be very interesting. [Pg.446]
